In addition to his work as a lawyer, Jasper has many years of experience as an adviser at a.s.r. schadeverzekeringen and Achmea. As a result, he knows both the work of a lawyer and day-to-day claims handling. That experience makes him a sounding board who knows insurers from the inside and understands what they need to move a case forward.

Jasper is approachable and values a good rapport with those involved in a case. He is mindful of the relationships between the parties and of what a case means for the injured party. Even when positions diverge, he continues to seek a dialogue on the substance.

Jasper was admitted to the Bar in 2017. He began his career in real estate and construction law at Habraken Rutten Advocaten and, from 2018, specialised in insurance and liability law at Stadermann Luiten Advocaten. There he advised and litigated for Dutch and foreign insurers and their insureds, including in personal injury cases, professional and general liability cases and policy disputes.

In 2023 he founded Van Ittersum Advocatuur.

In 2016 Jasper graduated cum laude from Leiden University. His thesis research on compensation for victims of asbestos-related lung cancer was published in professional journals and was runner-up for the Faculty’s Jongbloed Thesis Prize 2016–2017.

Jasper completed the Grotius specialisation courses in Business & Liability and in Personal Injury (cum laude). He is a member of the Dutch Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (LSA) and teaches practice-oriented courses on insurance and liability law.

In the register of legal practice areas of the Netherlands Bar (Nederlandse orde van advocaten), Jasper has registered the following practice areas: personal injury law and the law of obligations. Under this registration, he is required to earn ten training credits in each of these practice areas every calendar year, in accordance with the standards of the Netherlands Bar.

In the event of an emergency, the continuity of case handling is safeguarded. The cases of Van Ittersum Advocatuur will then be handled by Ms M.D. (Mirjam) Spruit of Spruit Advocatuur B.V. in Hilversum.
